The name incandescent lamp makes one picture a really complicated lamp, but in reality there is no such. Ever heard of the incandescent light bulb? How about Thomas Edison? I hope by now you understand that I am referring to none other than our usual light bulb we use in our everyday lives. Incandescent lamps are widely used all around the world. These lamps can be used for domestic or commercial purposes. Incandescent lamps were all that until newer methods of lighting up lamps came out. New bulbs were introduced and in the resource depleting world of today, the concept of saving some energy was considered. Inventions like the fluorescent bulbs were made that served the purpose of lighting much better than the incandescent lamps. This is because; incandescent lamps produce too much heat and less of electricity. They are also very expensive to use because they consume a lot of energy. Hence, all these factors make incandescent lamps very inefficient to use. Fluorescent bulbs on the other hand produce more light and consume less electricity. They are cheaper to use and are energy efficient. Fluorescent bulbs are said to be 4-6 times more efficient than incandescent light bulbs. Incandescent light bulbs have actually been banned in a few countries for the sake of preserving energy. However, I believe that their use should be continued but to a limited scale. Banning them will simply increase the rate of crime because will be tempted to smuggle the lamps into and out of countries.
However, due to incandescent lamps being the first ones in the market, their use is still very widespread and it will take a lot of time for other lighting bulbs to make their place in the market. Also, there are very few people out there who really care about saving energy. The middle class population might still choose the energy efficient methods to save money, but the ones who have money like to show it off. The more expensive the incandescent lamps are, the more they will be. I don’t mean to make the elite population sound heartless but showing off what you have in even the tiniest possible way is the typical human nature.
Incandescent lamps vary in design and the variety of colours provide din bulbs help give out some amazing lighting effects by making use of these lamps. No matter how inefficient or expensive they are, there is no doubt that these lamps give out a beautiful light. They are easy to make can be applied to almost every lamp frame out there.
